The week from that heartwarming reunion until yesterday...

Friends : The week from that heartwarming reunion until yesterday...

The past week has been a rollercoaster of emotions—much like the erratic, fluctuating weather we’ve been having, though the swings in my own heart were far more intense.

It was a week that spanned from a heartwarming reunion to a weekend spent trembling with rage; the emotional shifts were so sharp and rapid that my heart could barely keep up.

My heart was warmed by a long-awaited reunion, yet I remain consumed by anger over the fact that a dear friend was hurt. Then, yesterday, my heart was warmed once again during the final full-cast rehearsal for this weekend’s performance—my emotions have been fluctuating between warmth and cold, mirroring the unpredictable weather of late.

An incident occurred in the dead of night—an incident in which a dear friend was harmed. Dozens of police officers—including plainclothes investigators, forensic specialists, and uniformed officers—arrived on the scene, accompanied by patrol cars and motorcycles. The forensic investigation, DNA collection, and witness questioning lasted from the middle of the night until nearly noon; I spent several hours at the police station, having traveled there in a forensic vehicle alongside my friend.

My dear friend was attacked from behind in the middle of the night, crying out for help before managing to reach safety.

Awakened by those cries, I rushed out to search the neighborhood for the perpetrator, called the police, and scoured the area—even hopping on a bicycle to look for the assailant and asking neighbors if they had seen anyone suspicious. Before long, uniformed officers arrived, followed by a steady stream of plainclothes investigators appearing from seemingly everywhere.

Forensic vans and multiple patrol cars filled the neighborhood in the dead of night. Forensic teams collected evidence—including footprints left by the perpetrator and samples from my friend’s clothing—and documented everything with photographs. In the hours that followed, I stayed by my friend’s side, accompanying them—along with a female officer and a forensic specialist—to the police station. Following the incident, which occurred just after 1:00 AM, I accompanied my friend to the police station before 5:00 AM. We spent the next few hours there—reconstructing the scene for photographs, mapping out the sequence of events leading up to the incident, and waiting while the police prepared the necessary documentation.

I had to leave the station early due to a prior commitment, but I still spent four and a half hours there alongside my friend.

I returned home, feeling deeply frustrated, and began making some preparations. I went to check with neighbors to see if any of their security cameras might have captured the moment the crime took place.

As it turned out, the footage did indeed capture the exact moment of the attack. I was so overcome with rage that I was physically trembling.

I immediately contacted the police to inform them about the security camera footage and reached out to my friend as well. My friend was finally able to leave the police station a few hours later, but when I think about what she—the victim—must be going through, my anger remains completely unabated.

I feel an overwhelming urge to protect my dear friend; in fact, I’m so intent on it that I worry I might even be mistaken for a suspicious person myself.

Crimes committed against defenseless women are absolutely unforgivable. I shudder to think what I might have done had I been there and managed to catch the perpetrator—it’s frightening to consider how far my own rage might have driven me.

Right now, our childhood friends and others in the neighborhood are keeping a close watch for the perpetrator while doing our best to support the victim.

I only hope that I can provide some measure of comfort to my friend as she heals from this trauma. I am simply relieved that, at the very least, she sustained no physical injuries.

This is truly unforgivable—I will never forgive it.
I implore the police: please, catch this person.
That is all I wish for.

In the wake of this incident... Unable to sleep,
I went to watch a stage performance—part of a school cultural festival—put on by vocational students who had adapted my script for the stage...
While I couldn't help but view it through the eyes of an author and director—thinking, "Perhaps this or that could have been done differently"—I was deeply moved by the students' passionate performances.
The story, which moves toward a conclusion that is sad yet filled with hope, reminded me once again what a good piece of writing *Yokage* (Night Shadow) truly is.
It was a day spent being touched by the performances of characters who felt so remarkably true to life.

A day that followed a sleepless night—a stretch of time where my emotions struggled to keep pace with the shifting intensity of the moment.

The following day was filled with lessons and the final rehearsal for a recital.
It was the end of a week, and I found myself healed by the spirit and the posture—the very attitude—of the children.

Once again—
Good evening, good morning, hello...
A new month, a new week—and, in a sense, a "Happy New Year" (a fresh start)...
Thank you for all your hard work over the past month, and the past week.
The weather these days sees drastic temperature swings; one moment the air turns cold, and the next, the sun shines down with surprising warmth.

This morning, too, began with the sun pouring down from a blue sky, only for the clouds to gradually roll in.

I hope the weather remains mild throughout this coming week.

To continue the story—
The other day, I met up with friends from my vocational school days—seniors, juniors, and former members of the same dance group—all of us who once chased the same dreams and who, to this day, remain active in acting and dance. We gathered in Kamata, the area where we used to spend so much of our time back then.
One of them, who had worked hard alongside me in dance and belonged to the same talent agency, even traveled all the way from Nagano for this reunion... ...and some seniors I used to know.

Thinking that if I missed this chance, I might never see them again, I decided to attend.

Though we’ve all aged in appearance,
the moment we started talking, we were exactly as we used to be.
Laughing, chatting, singing, and dancing—just like in the old days.

It felt as if the years we spent apart never existed;
everything from back then felt as fresh as if it had happened just yesterday—nothing had changed at all.

It was a joyful time, filled with smiles, spent with friends who had sent me messages before my surgery...

Even when life takes a zigzag path,
let’s hold onto these warm moments in our hearts.
With strength, kindness, and warmth,
let’s keep living through this coming week...

I will never forgive men—criminals—who hurt others,
who, driven by their own selfish desires, harm women, children, the elderly,
or anyone in a vulnerable position.
A woman in my neighborhood is gripped by fear because of this incident.
Miu feels the same way; she told me, "It’s scary, so please come over right away!"
She even invited me over, saying, "I’ll let you use my U-NEXT account in exchange!"
She’s still as adorable as ever, no matter how old she gets.

Sorry for the long post again this week.
I’ll make sure to take good care of my own heart,
hoping that any "zigzags" in my mind might smooth out into warmer, gentler days.

May the "zigzags" in your own hearts
settle into calm, gentle waves,
making for a warm and kind week ahead...

May a gentle breeze blow softly through all of your hearts.

I hope you can feel that gentle breeze in this week’s member blog posts, too.

Thank you for this week as well.
See you next week.

Let’s live—
with strength, kindness, and warmth.
